Fantastic remake 2010-07-27

I hesitated when this movie came out at the cinema seeing only a few preview clips on TV.
I even asked a few co-workers if they had seen it and they scoffed at it.

So going by that and having seen and really liked the original, I did not see this movie at the theater.

I regret that now. I just picked up the set sold here with the remake and the original B&W version and let me tell you now, this is quite the deal here.
Two very good movies at a very low price. They are practically giving these away.

The remake is really good. Good cinematography. Excellent story.
This is good science fiction. This is how good science fiction is done.
I skimmed some of the reviews here and saw the ratings on the remake.
These people don't know good science fiction when they see it.

The story in the remake is the same yet better than the original because it adds a lot more fantastic details as to why Klaatu is there on Earth.
All of the fantastic visuals really add to the story. The original borders on camp, but you have to remember when the original was released.
There is also lots of good suspense in this remake as there was in the original.
I'd say the suspense here is even greater because this remake, as I said has a lot of really fantastic visuals. Excellent remake.

As I said, I am sorry I missed this when it hit the theaters when it was first released.
I liked the original and this remake is one of the best.
Definitely much, much better than the remake of "The War of the Worlds".

It's a fine diversion 2010-07-23

There is nothing particularly wrong with this film. The outcome is pretty much expected from the beginning. The effects are good. The Hollywood-style quotient is high. It seems like most of the bashing is primarily due to remaking a classic, which may have been a bad idea. For the price, it's a fine weekend afternoon diversion.

This movie is so unrated. Sorry nostalgic folk, but I thought that was a bad movie, poorly done, with dad unknown actor, well thanks I got soooooooo much more then I expect. This is a very good movie. Another thing, yes it comes with the old one and yes it is different in some way but both worth every penny. Please get it, it's a good movie, allot of action, good story, nicely done, good CG, powerful and dynamic sound and for 15$ for an excellent blue-ray, plus the original is flawless restore in 5.1 DTX, 1080P, 16:9... It's a deal, well worth it.

I hate to say that but this movie is under appreciated by old nostalgic critics who think everything was better done then...
If you are one of them don't waste my time crucifying my English or my opinion LOL

Not as good as the original...but it would have been impossible to top the original..I know people will not agree with me..but i enjoyed this movie for what it was...give it a chance,you may like it...it took me a long time to breakdown and watch it,and i'm a huge fan of the original,so i was all set to hate it...but to my suprise i liked it...not loved...liked!!...you may too??..."klaatu Barada Nikto"
