It features an ultra-light, heat-resistant borosilicate glass beaker, which is both strong and resistant to temperature extremes and dishwasher safe. It's complemented by a polypropylene handle and base and a 3-part stainless steel plunger with a fine mesh filter--allowing the flavor of the coffee to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. The patented safety lid also prevents the splashing of liquids while pressing. All parts are dishwasher safe. To make the perfect pot of French press coffee, add 1 rounded tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee for each 4-ounce cup of water. After pouring boiling water over the coffee, give the grounds a stir with a plastic spoon, then allow your coffee to brew in the press for 4 minutes pressing down on the plunger.

Love this French Press!

This French Press is just about perfect for home or office. It works without ever letting grounds into your coffee, can go in the microwave to heat the water if that's what you want to do, can be cleaned in the dishwasher (top rack). I know glass doesn't insulate, but easy enough to heat that last cup in the microwave if you need to. It makes three full mugs of coffee, and that's pretty standard for an "8 cup" coffee maker of any type (you need to check on the overall ounces it holds). I've had mine and used it daily for about 6 months now and it looks and works like new-makes the smoothest, non-bitter cup of coffee. Highly recommend this product!

I am really enjoying this product. Like other folks said, 32 oz is not 8 cups of coffee in my universe. Still, a good useable size, and cold-brewing yields plenty of concentrate. All the parts are supposed to be dishwasher safe, but even unscrewing the plunger bit and separating every piece, it still came out with residue, so just handwash it. Be careful, though, that mesh screen can give you nasty metal splinters if you handle the edges!
Great product, one small flaw

I bought this for my girlfriend. It works great, it does what it's supposed to do, and I suppose it's well constructed. However there is a relatively major flaw in it's design. When using only a small amount of water, as if you were only brewing one cup, the plunger bottoms out before you can adequately strain through all the liquid. The plunger needs to be an inch or so longer to allow you to apply adequate pressure on the handle as the plunger reaches the bottom of the cylinder. No big deal, just need to make 2 or 3 cups for adequate pressure, but other than that, good build quality makes up for oversight.

The Bodum Brazil 8 cup coffee press is wonderful. We already have the smaller 17 oz. size and love the coffee, but since we use mugs we never had enough coffee for that leasurly second cup.
This size fills about four mugs so is just perfect for the two of us. The plastic housing is even better than the "Origial" metal because it doesn't get hot and burn me, or the table.
One problem--after you start using a coffee press you are never happy with coffee away from home.
