I Would Read it Again

This story is an excellent collage of adventure, action, and fantasy! Funke writes about Meggie and her father Mo and their extraordinary gift. This gift, the ability to read characters, objects, and animals out of their books as they read them aloud, also acts as a curse for Mo and Meggie. An evil man named Capricorn is after her and her father and wants to use their power to conquer the world. This book is for everyone who wants to be stuck in a book! I would read it again.

This series definetely started off with a bang. I liked this book best of all the ones in the series. Great characters and story line with an innovative concept of entering the world in a book.
An Entertaining Book of Good and Evil

Inkheart is a creative novel that illustrates the conflict of good versus evil through imaginative plots and characters. I read this with my 7-year old daughter who also enjoyed it and was eager to listen to it each night. The book has its share of dark characters that have been read from a book into the story into the "real" world of the story and create havoc in the "real" world. They especially haunt the main character Mo who read them into the world. Mo and his daughter stay in constant conflict with the evil characters.
This book is not only intriguing it is well written and has considerable depth. Each chapter begins with a quote from another book, usually a classic...this lends to developing the reader's interest in reading other books, too.
My only criticism is a slight one...At times the setting seems realistic and at other times it is fanciful...a deserted village surrounded by venemous snakes and forests. I was never sure of the time and place of the story, the full backgrounds of the characters and the setting outside are a mystery.
This is a great option for parents and youth to read together or a way for young people to get interested in reading. I look forward to watching the movie and to reading the two sequels. Because Inkheart centers on books, the story has helped to fan into flame my daughter's passion for reading.
Stupid People Should Not Review Books

The negative reviews of this book amaze me. ITS A CHILDS BOOK THAT IS WHY THE STORY IS SIMPLISTIC. If you are a kid, or an adult who likes to read fantasy, then I believe you will enjoy this, or anything by Funke for that matter. Just don't expect a complex plot because ITS A CHILDRENS BOOK. My kids like these books way better than Potter and I have to agree.
